Fish Bubble Brooch
Lighthearted and Fun.
Made in 2009.
Signed and dated.
Made with:
An antique Chinese silver toggle shaped like a fish, from the weekend flea market in Beijing that I used to visit, which covered several square blocks. In those days, one could sometimes find amazing things. Back in my studio, I sawed the toggle in half lengthwise, soldered on a sterling back plate, and added the framework that would hold the beaded dome. After soldering on two nickel silver tie tack backs and finishing the metal, I stitched on the beaded dome, made from half of a complete, three-layer sphere.
Two nickel silver tie tack prongs and backs.
Weight:
Lightweight.
Dimensions:
3” wide x 1 1/2” high x about 1/2” deep.
Additional Information:
In Chinese culture, fish symbolize abundance and prosperity in general. Which explains why someone might want to carry a toggle or good luck charm shaped like a fish!
Lighthearted and Fun.
