Vintage Ship of Transition Series Brooch

Sale Price: $465.00 Original Price: $865.00

An Experimental One of a Kind

  • From the early 1990s.

  • Placed in a studio drawer long ago and eventually forgotten.

  • More than ready for a wonderful new life.

Made with:

  • Late 19th century European glass beads in shades of dark mint green, cherry red and black. The red beads in particular are almost as small as a grain of sand. I used to string then with an antique lace needle that was 7” long and nearly as fine as a human hair. The mint and black beads are not very much larger.

  • Bright sterling silver beads.

  • A hand-carved wooden form.

  • Textured sterling silver triangle shapes on long stems wrapped with silk thread. I added these to evoke the sails of a ship.

  • Nickel silver pin parts.

  • An ultrasuede panel covering the back.

Weight:

  • Lightweight.

Dimensions:

  • 3 1/2” tall by 2” wide by 3/4” depth not including pin stem.

Additional Information:

  • I will update the original pinstem to a revised pin stem assemblage I designed and fabricated myself.

  • I will sign the brooch wtih my name on the new pin stem assemblage.
