Japanese glass seed beads in shade of matte red and matte black, stitched in a technique I learned by studying a necklace made by the Zulu women of South Africa.
Hand fabricated and oxidized sterling silver end caps along with a commercial and sterlng silver lobster clasp. The end caps are stitched in a technique we know as “peyote stitch,” which appears in ancient Egypt by ca. 2500 BC. Since that time it has been used around the world in a great mnay cultures. It is one of the first beading techniques a new beader learns. I learned it when i was 12 from a small book my parents bought for me - that cost $1.00 and showed beading techniques from many cultures.
