An Early Experimental Brooch
Ca. Early 1990s
Never before offered for sale, partially because I was too embarrassed that I used brass for the back instead of sterling silver, in order to save expenses. However, I did use sterling silver for the sails on the front, the rungs beneath the green beads, and other places.
A blend of beading techniques ranging from braiding to wrapping and couching.
Made with:
Brass sheet
Sterling silver sheet and wire
Tiny antique Venetian glass beads in shades of green turquoise and red.
Antique European glass seed beads in pearlescent white.
Antique European glass needle bugles in a shade of reddish rust.
Nickel silver pin parts.
Black silk thread.
Weight:
Extremely lightweight.
Dimensions:
About 2 3/4” wide by 4” tall by 3/4” deep.
Additional Information:
I will refine the finish on the brass to the exttent that I can.
I will also sign the back before shipping.
