One of a Kind
My interpretation of a 12th century Chinese painting attributed to Emperor Huizong. The painting is called “Auspicious Cranes.” I was focusing on expressiing the birds, the rooflines, and the clouds in the materials I know best - beads and metal.
Never worn, just preserved.
Very large. A piece meant for a large sweater or coat.
Ca. 2010.
Of all the one-of-a-kind pieces I’ve created over the years, this is probably my favorite. Or it’s tied with my Bodhi Brooch.

Water caltrop seed pod beads I collected in China years ago. I love the variety of their shapes and their soft shades of brown. But please know that the points are sharp at the ends.
Hand fabricated sterling silver sheet and bar stock soldered into a supporting frame.

Czech glass beads.
Two nickel silver tie tack backs and closures.

About 3 1/2” wide by about 5” tall by about 1” deep excluding tie tack prongs.
