Rare antique Venetian glass beads striped cobalt, oxblood red, and milky white under an outer layer of transparent glass, now bearing a gentle patina that speaks to their world travels. After being shipped to Africa long ago, where they were highly esteemed, these beads returned to the West, which esteemed them anew. Their irregular shapes and lengths flow from the fact that they were made by hand in the late 19th or early 20th centuries.
